Fall Decor

Not counting the last two days (ahem...90 degrees) it is FALL in Los Angeles!  Halloween came and went and very soon Thanksgiving will pass us by, too.  I have to remind myself to slow down this time of year and enjoy every second of it.
Decorating between October and December is my very favorite thing to do.  I found these simple cinnamon stick votive candles over on Apartment TherapyNote: the original posting can no longer be found on Jonathan Fong Style, but you get the idea.  They are a simple and inexpensive way to get your home looking and smelling like warm, cozy Fall.
Happy Decorating!

Rougin' It

At the end of the month, I will be taking a long weekend and camping in Yosemite with my main man and I could not be more excited!  I was a Girl Scout for 13 years (nerd alert!!) but loved every second of it.  The camping trips my troop took in the earlier years were pretty legit...bugs, tents, roasting hot dogs on sticks, no showers.  As we got older, and our leaders decided we had had a rich enough camping experience, we slowly become more and more like Troop Beverly Hills.  Which, by the way, is still one of my all time favorite movies...no shame.

I dabbled a little in easy camping during high school and college with friends, but this trip marks my first adult, I'm doing it all by myself (with the help of boyfriend, of course) camping experience.  I've planned our meals for the weekend, made a list of needed supplies, researched the hell out of Yosemite (Rim Fire is 80% contained and our campground is open for business), and am just counting down the days until we take off on our first camping adventure!
My packing list is pretty substantial...call me OCD but I call it prepared!  Here are a few of my favorite camping essentials...

Hang in There, Baby

After a particularly hectic morning and a jam-packed busy weekend ahead of me, I was starting to feel a little overwhelmed.  Instead of losing my cool, I'm choosing to hang in there.  And this print from Urban Outfitters Society6 is reminding me to do just that.

Tiki Birthday Celebration: Part Deux

My Tiki Birthday Celebration is fast approaching and I cannot wait!  My roommate and I have been scouring the interwebs for vintage tiki inspiration and rummaging the 99 Cent Store and Target Dollar Spot shelves for supplies...we like to think of ourselves as the Real Life Two Broke Girls.  Also, the less we spend on decor, the more we can spend on food and booze!

Weekend Yoga Retreat

Can I please go back to Ojai?  I had the most amazing time on my yoga retreat last weekend.  I felt relaxed and rejuvinated...that is until I came back to work on Monday.  Sigh...I guess there's always next year!

Thank you to our fearless leaders, Billy and Ashley!

Notes for My Future Husband

I know that I am nowhere near having a husband, but I thought that for his sake, whoever he may be, I should probably start taking down some notes that could be of use to him one day.  I like to think that I am a pretty level headed person who doesn’t lose their cool all that often.  However, I am a woman which means I’m still susceptible to bouts of “cray cray”.
I don’t have a list of perfect traits for a husband hidden away in a frilly decoupage box on the top shelf of my closet, but I do like to think that he’ll be the kind of man who plans ahead.  And I’m not talking about booking a romantic getaway just because, or sending me to the spa when I’ve had a stressful week.  Those things sound amazing and I would be grateful, but I’m talking about an entirely different beast.
A man will never truly comprehend what happens to a woman when she’s being visited by Aunt Flo.  We just want to cuddle, then we want you the hell out of the house, and then we want a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and a bottle of wine!  Sometimes there is no “right thing” that can be done…the poor bastards.  This is where The Period Store comes into the picture.
Created by angles from above, Ashley and Rubi, The Period Store is a delivery service for that time of the month.  The package choices are fun, adorable, and affordable.  The Treats package includes chocolate, an inspirational art print, meds, and tea for only $15 a month.  Or you can choose to include one, two, or three products (tampons, pads, sea sponges, etc.) in addition to your treats for $20-$30 and the shipping is always free!  Any quick thinking man will realize this saves him from the awkwardness of standing in line at CVS with a box of tampons and a case of beer as a diversion.
Although this might take a little bit of detective work done by my future husband, as you also need to tell them when you are expecting your cycle, if he’s smart, he’ll recruit my sister to obtain such classified information.  What a happy wife my hubby will have when I’m surprised by a mysterious package at the doorstep full of glorious amenities!  And if he is really good, he’ll also bump that chick flick he’s been secretly demoting up to the top of the Netflix queue just in time for my Friday night on the couch.  Love you, honey!

Weekend Oasis

Happy Friday!
I'm off to the beautiful Ojai, California for a yoga retreat with two of my favorite instructors and all of my yoga friends.  I hope your weekend is as relaxing as mine will be!
